Often on Saturdays, when I was a little girl, we used to wake up (my brother, sister and I) to the sounds of music.

My mom and dad were sometimes dancing in the living room and would try to make us join them. In the background a cassette or record was playing - African Music, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Bonnie Raitt, Van Morrison, The Nevil Brothers, Chuck Berry, BB King and many others…

As a sensitive and shy girl, I just remember feeling safe and comfortable in the embrace of music.

That embrace helped me as a child, as a teenager, and continues to help me today as a human being, in an overwhelming world. It grants me the power to breathe it all in and be who I am.
